The Acorn's brand new FREE live streaming series continues this Thursday night, June 4th at 8pm ET on The Acorn Facebook page. This week's featured artist is Jackie Venson!

This Event is now LIVE!

About Jackie Venson
Obsessed with music from an early age, singer/songwriter Jackie Venson immersed herself in its study, attending the Berklee College of Music to practice classical piano. However, it wasn't until she switched to the electric guitar, that her long-simmering passion for emotive live performance was realized. Abandoning the straight-laced world of classical for the raw power of blues and soul, Venson has since been tirelessly honing her skills into an intoxicating amalgam of Blues, Rock, R&B and Soul with deeply heartfelt lyrics.

Jackie Venson released her latest studio album Joy in April 2019. In celebration of the album, Venson held a sold out album release show in her hometown of Austin, Texas at the historic Paramount Theatre.

Thursday Night Acorn Presents: Mary Fahl Live Streaming Concert

Thursday, Apr. 16 | 8:00pm ET (7:00pm CT)

Singer-Songwriter

The Acorn's brand new live streaming series continues this Thursday night, April 16th at 8pm ET on The Acorn Facebook page. This week's featured artist is Mary Fahl!

About Mary Fahl

With “a voice for the gods that can transport listeners to other realms” (Boston Globe), Mary Fahl is an expressive, emotional singer/songwriter who first achieved fame as lead singer and co-founder of the mid-1990s NYC- based chamber-pop group October Project. As a solo artist, she’s had more freedom to pursue her own muse, whether that means writing and recording songs for movies (including the theme for the Civil War epic “Gods and Generals”), singing arias and medieval Spanish songs for Sony Classical or releasing unique album-length take on Dark Side of the Moon. As befits a former Catholic schoolgirl who went on to major in medieval studies and develop a lifelong interest in Hermeticism, Mary Fahl makes music that feels timeless, esoteric and ecumenical. Her elegant, cinematic songs draw on classical and world music sources, American art song, as well as thinking man’s folk-pop which she performs with an earthy, viscerally powerful contralto that bridges the generational gap between Fairport Convention’s Sandy Denny and London Grammar’s Hanna Reid.
