Acorn Homegrown Fall Fest

Saturday, Oct. 24 | 3:30pm ET (2:30pm CT)

BluesLocal/RegionalSinger-Songwriter

There are a few tickets left, but they are only available by contacting the box office!

A wonderful gathering of music in the vibrant foliage of Michigan closes our outdoor season, as we present Acorn Homegrown Fall Fest on a beautiful farm in the Three Oaks area!

Featured at the festival is Mike Felten, Morse & Wagner, Jake Borowski, Doug Harsch, Rachel Drew, Emma Hamel  and special guest Anne Harris with Ernie Hendrickson.

Mike Felten Mike Felten

Award-winning singer/songwriter Mike Felten has been playing since the 1960's. A veteran of rock, country and blues bands, Mike has been on one long tour all over the United States performing 60-100 roots/blues shows a year. He defines the word "troubadour," with six albums to his credit and a lot of living behind him. Some have taken to calling him a legend. He just calls himself "Johnny Lunchbucket". His latest album, Fast Mikey Blue Eyes features collaborations with Barry Goldberg, Corky Siegel and others.

Morse & Wagner Morse & Wagner

Taylor Morse and Jamie Wagner are an acoustic/electric songwriter team who play their own original music. Morse & Wagner are both independent songwriters and each bring their own style and creativity to the project. The team is based in Chicago who have been writing, composing and performing their original music at many of the local music venues. Morse and Wagner have hosted the Open Mic at Three Oaks Acorn Theatre in the past.

Doug Harsch Doug Harsch

Doug Harsch is a singer/songwriter in the time-honored tradition--writing and singing songs with a heart covered in the dust of life with a sound that invokes the grand American story. His smart, fun, hand-clapping, foot-stomping songs are full of both the joy and grit that life brings with it.

Rachel Drew Rachel Drew

Rachel Drew grew up in a musical household on the north side of Chicago. She entered the Chicago music scene in 2015, having already written hundreds of songs, and has quickly become a highly sought after performer.

Emma Hamel Emma Hamel

Singer/songwriter Emma Hamel spent many of her high school years scrawling lyrics in class and singing in her bedroom before she began performing her original music all around Southwest Michigan. Her music pairs poetic lyrics with haunting vocals and stripped down arrangements that let the story take center stage. Her deeply heartfelt songs are filled with the hopes, insecurities, and uncertainties that accompany the transition from youth to adulthood. Emma has been featured on numerous radio and TV programs and was the 2018 winner of the Acorn Singer Songwriter Competition.

Jake Borowski

Anne Harris Anne Harris with Ernie Hendrickson

Anne Harris’ sonic signature is steeped in myriad American Roots traditions from Blues, folk, and gospel to country and rock. She has spent the last 10 years touring internationally as a blues musician.

“Once you have witnessed Anne Harris play the violin, you aren’t likely to forget the experience any time soon… She inhabits the music, or maybe the music inhabits her, but it is impossible not to be drawn under her spell”.
-BluesWax

Chicago based Americana/Folk/Rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Ernie Hendrickson spent a great deal of time honing his skills in Nashville. His deeply personal songs recall influences from Tom Petty to Tom Snider, but his sound and vision are truly singular and ring with intensity, revelation, and aching honesty.

Acorn Homegrown premiere event

Saturday, Sep. 26 | 5:30pm ET (4:30pm CT)

Local/RegionalSinger-Songwriter

We've partnered with Paws for Humanity, to present this special event that launches our new series Acorn Homegrown! featuring a selection of some of our favorite local and regional artists. Featured are The Jamie Wagner Band, Amis and special guest artist Tristan Avakian.

Jamie Wagner has been playing in and around the Chicagoland area since the early '90s. Jamie’s songs have been described as “folk interjection with a rock n’ roll edge”. Jamie Wagner is backed by many of Chicago’s leading musicians including multi-instrumentalist’s Brian Wilkie (pedal steel/lead guitar), Allegra Malone (backup vox), Larry Beers (drums, percussion), Joe Adamik (drums, percussion), Victor Garcia (trumpet), Chris Green (sax), Steve Doyle (guitars), Josh Piet (bass), Justin Loftus (bass) and Mike Przygoda (bass/keyboards) and many others.

Amis is the duo of Patti Shaffner and Scott Pazera.

Patti Singer/Songwriter, Actress, Director and Performance Coach Patti is often recognized for her dynamic stage presence and captivating vocals. She has trained with Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon (Mistress of Improvisational Singing). She has opened for the legendary Michael Smith, Dan Navarro and Special Consensus Bluegrass Band. She performs solo in jazz, folk, blues and with SongSisters, a folk trio in the Chicago-land area.

ScottScott has been playing bass guitar, standard guitar and acoustic bass for over 30 years and is a motivated instructor, small business owner and spirited performer. Scott has been performing publicly with his own jazz groups and often works as a sideman to some of the top performers in Chicago and Indianapolis.  Scott has performed and/or recorded with artists such as Rich Little, Veruca Salt, Ce Ce Peniston, Med Flory (Supersax), Fareed Haque, Henry Johnson, Bill Lancton, Byron Stripling, Rachel Yamagata, James Russell, Satya Graha, Mike Mandell and many others.

As WatersGuitarist/singer-songwriter Tristan Avakian has been performing his original material under his artist name, As Waters, since 2014. His music is resonant with a variety of eclectic influences that evoke earlier eras: 60’s orchestral pop, psychedelic rock, folk, even Elizabethan lay. In spite of the fact that he is known principally as a musical theater/rock guitarist (including We Will Rock You, Rock of Ages, Hedwig, Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots and most recently, Come From Away), the material on ‘As Waters’ is story and lyric driven, and the instrumentation comes in second.

This event will take place on a beautiful farm in the Three Oaks area. Exact location to be disclosed at a later time.

Thursday Night Acorn Presents: Brian Dunne

Thursday, Jul. 02 | 6:00pm ET (5:00pm CT)

AmericanaFolkSinger-Songwriter

The Acorn's FREE live streaming series continues Thursday, July 2nd at 6pm ET on The Acorn Facebook page with featured artist Brian Dunne!

Brooklyn-based musician Brian Dunne got his start the old fashioned way, crisscrossing the country performing hundreds of shows a year as he built up a dedicated fanbase one night at a time.

In Dunne’s poignant new album, ‘Selling Things,’ he faces down doubt and disappointment head on, learning to make peace with uncertainty and find catharsis in acceptance. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer/mixer/engineer Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Caroline Rose), the collection is a dark and dreamy meditation on the nature of fulfillment, one that balances the personal and political as it contemplates an impending apocalypse that feels more literal and less metaphorical with each passing day. Dunne writes with a cinematic eye for detail here, offering up fully fleshed out character studies and immersive vignettes that capture the kind of small, seemingly inconsequential moments that only later reveal their profound and lasting impacts. It’s an approach that calls to mind everything from Jackson Browne and Tom Waits to Jonathan Richman and Chrissie Hynde, and the result is a blend of black humor and probing introspection that sounds at once vintage and modern, familiar and foreign, hopeful and fatalistic.

The Acorn's brand new FREE live streaming series continues this Thursday night, June 4th at 8pm ET on The Acorn Facebook page. This week's featured artist is Jackie Venson!

This Event is now LIVE!

About Jackie Venson
Obsessed with music from an early age, singer/songwriter Jackie Venson immersed herself in its study, attending the Berklee College of Music to practice classical piano. However, it wasn't until she switched to the electric guitar, that her long-simmering passion for emotive live performance was realized. Abandoning the straight-laced world of classical for the raw power of blues and soul, Venson has since been tirelessly honing her skills into an intoxicating amalgam of Blues, Rock, R&B and Soul with deeply heartfelt lyrics.

Jackie Venson released her latest studio album Joy in April 2019. In celebration of the album, Venson held a sold out album release show in her hometown of Austin, Texas at the historic Paramount Theatre.
