Iconic Songs of the '70s with Swearingen & Kelli
Friday, Jun. 05 | 8:00pm ET (7:00pm CT)
Iconic Songs of the ’70s is an intimate, story-rich concert celebrating the legendary artists who shaped a golden era of songwriting; from Jim Croce and Cat Stevens to Carole King, Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Simon & Garfunkel, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Roberta Flack, and Neil Young and more.
With warmth, storytelling, and exceptional musicianship, the show features intimate arrangements for acoustic guitar, piano, and AJ Swearingen’s atmospheric vintage lap steel — all lifted by Jayne Kelli’s soaring, expressive vocals. Rather than imitation, the evening honors the spirit of the era: timeless melodies, poetic lyrics, and songs that feel like old friends.
About the Artists:
Nashville-based duo Swearingen & Kelli (AJ Swearingen and Michigan born Jayne Kell) have spent over a decade crafting harmony-rich Americana steeped in the soul of ’60s and ’70s songwriters. The two first met at a songwriters club in Florida, became fast friends and bandmates, eloped in Punta Cana, and eventually made their way to Nashville, where their musical partnership continues to evolve.
Their most recent album, Build Myself Up From the Ground, earned praise from The Bluegrass Situation, Wide Open Country, and Americana Highways, which noted they sound “as good as John Prine with Bonnie Raitt on ‘Angel From Montgomery.’” They’ve shared stages with icons including Crystal Gayle, Kenny Rogers, Tom Rush, and David Bromberg, and have performed symphonic pops programs with orchestras across the U.S. and Canada.
In 2025, Jayne launched a solo piano-driven project beginning with a dreamy ballad reimagining of "Sister Golden Hair" by America, featuring AJ’s atmospheric vintage lap steel. She followed with the critically acclaimed indie-rock single “Only in the Dream,” which premiered with Magnet Magazine and was praised by Amplify Music Magazine as “a stunning gem of a song… a contender for our favorite song of the year.” The release signals a more cinematic, piano-centered direction while maintaining the lyrical depth and emotional resonance that define the duo’s work.
