Doyle Martin
- Box Office Coordinator
When Doyle Martin isn’t playing music he says he’s mowing the grass and thinking about playing music. Doyle’s guitar has taken him all over the world. He feels very fortunate to meet so many genuine people along the way. Doyle didn’t know as a young person all that he would attain by getting involved in local music. He says he was just focused on “staying in tune at the Elk’s Lodge after school.”
Doyle’s roots stem from the punk/hardcore community which was an open-minded, empowering springboard for many youths in Northwest Indiana. After relocating to LaPorte with his family, he was happy to discover an all ages music venue with regional acts touring through town all the time. He cites that as a huge inspiration and credits it for his pursuit of guitar music and finding like-minded peers.
The type of inspiration Doyle found through that venue as a youth can be hard to find, especially in a rural community. He says, “That outlet was there for me when I needed it, and I turned out okay, so I try to kindle that in my neighborhood when I can. Also I’ve been known to give guitar lessons and can learn any Taylor Swift song you throw at me.”
At The Acorn, you’ll find Doyle as part of our Box Office Team working show operations. You might even catch him on our stage sharing a tune from time to time.
