Chris DuPont and Kylee Phillips kicked the concept off with their sold-out 2023 “Ruin your Valentine’s Day” show at Trinity House Theatre. They joined friends Kyle Joe, Spencer LaJoye, and Sammie Hershock in presenting “Weird Valentines” to a sold-out crowd at Lowell Arts in February 2025. The crew is taking the show on the road again in 2026, kicking off at The Acorn.

About the Artists:

Spencer LaJoye (CA, by way of MI) is a rising queer-indie-folk powerhouse, sharing songs of belonging, self-discovery, and redemptive heartbreak. You may have heard their viral post-religious-hymn “Plowshare Prayer,” or seen them on the road with the Crane Wives.

Kyle Joe (MI) is an award-winning songwriter’s songwriter. Haven’t heard of him? Ask any Michigan artist about him, because they have. Though often content to skate through the shadows, Kyle is one of the coziest frontmen imaginable, and wins hearts at every show.

Sammie Hershock (MI) is a text-loving piano songstress, weaving themes of religious imagination, powerful womanhood, and the inspiration found in nature. She has lately made appearances at many a midwest festival, singing on stage with the treasured Tom Petty tribute band The Insiders.

Kylee Phillips (MI) was the 2025 winner of the Acorn Singer-Songwriter Competition. This quickly-rising indie-pop artist has been rapidly winning hearts with her anthemic hooks, massive crystalline voice, and achingly relatable lyrics.

Chris DuPont (MI) is a Michigan think-piece Americana artist, melding ‘70s folk eloquence with hazy indie rock textures. Known for an easy tenor and a truly singular guitar voice, he has been a southeast Michigan staple for over a decade. Chris was a finalist in the 2025 Acorn Singer-Songwriter Competition, and is often on stage with Kylee in their duo DuPont Phillips.
