Community EventWorld Music

A FREE COMMUNITY EVENT Sponsored by Harbor Arts and The Acorn.

The Chicago based Surabhi Ensemble is a cross cultural collaborative group which features sounds from India, Spain, Senegal and the Arabic world. In January 2019, the ensemble completed a very successful “Global Peace Tour” to Vietnam, Spain, Portugal and Senegal, visiting schools, concert halls, social service organizations and small theater venues.

David Fink will host an interactive discussion about the recent tour. Surabhi will also give a special performance with the Senegalese Tama drum artist, Massamba Diop, who was featured on the Academy Award winning soundtrack to the “Black Panther” movie. Surabhi promises an energetic set featuring original compositions from their award winning CD release as well as traditional Indian Kathak dance.

Reservations strongly encouraged.

About The Acorn

The Acorn brings great known performers and amazing new ones to southwest Michigan.  Located in the historic featherbone factory, The Acorn’s friendly staff and volunteers, and an acoustically rich sound system combine for memorable experiences. We’re located in Three Oaks, Michigan …  just over an hour from downtown Chicago and 30 minutes from South Bend, IN.

The Acorn, a nonprofit organization, annually hosts a singer songwriter competition and a Spectacular Tournament of Playwrights. Our Open Mic nights showcase a variety of strong talent and our educational workshops include songwriting and master classes in performance.
